Family Activities during School Holidays
Plenty of new family activities offering great value for money this Easter!
We have lots of new activities to entertain the whole family throughout the Easter school holidays. Entrance to all the galleries and attractions plus the Easter school holiday family activities are included in the normal admission price, offering great value for money as all full price tickets are valid for one year from the date of first visit! Using puppets and lively storytelling, the role of the humble moggy will be brought to life for children of all ages. Visitors can ‘meet’ Jasper, the Ship’s Cat aboard HMS Cavalier; hear stories of cats like Annie who lived aboard HMS Anson and discover that she produced as many as 50 kittens during her long tour of duty! Eagle eyed youngsters can be on the lookout for the resident rat “Tricky Dicky” who pops his head up from time to time too. These fun story telling sessions are back by popular demand and will take place daily from 2nd – 18th April on board HMS Cavalier, the Second World War Destroyer (excluding 4 & 5 April).

here| has been inspired by the recently released Sherlock Holmes film and complements other activities families can take part in during the school holidays including a Sherlock Holmes related ‘Word Search’. A Family Fun Trail downloadable
here|, the popular Family Ropery Tour where visitors can make their own piece of rope and themed colouring are other activities which run during the holidays from 2nd – 18th April.
Opportunities for children to ‘let off steam’ are offered by the outdoor adventure play area and the recently refurbished indoor play area and ball pool – The Railway Workshop, Picnic and Play where visitors can see the dockyard’s locomotives up close and personal!
The Commissioner’s Garden and Pavilion Marquee will be the beautiful setting for brand new Easter themed activities running from 6th – 9th April between 11am and 3pm. The Witch and the Rabbit story will be told at 12 noon plus there will be an egg hunt, bunny mask making and other children’s activities. For the first time at Easter, refreshments will be available to purchase in Commissioner’s House.
The popular annual ‘special event’ – The Medway Festival of Steam & Transport takes place on Easter Sunday and Monday, 4th and 5th April (event prices apply). Hundreds of vehicles and steam engines, plus family entertainment and activities makes this a great Easter event for everyone. Families with small children won’t want to miss the chance to see Fireman Sam and Naughty Norman on Monday 5th April. They be making ‘meet and greet’ appearances and starring in the Fireman Sam show at various intervals throughout the day.
