Introduction to our Museum Collections

The Historic Dockyard, Chatham is a fully accredited museum and partner in Renaissance South East, the South East Museum hub.

We collect, preserve, study and exhibit objects and material connected with the history of:

• The people who worked in, or were associated with, Chatham Dockyard
• The development of Royal Navy warship design and construction  
• The Royal Navy’s use of the River Medway and its role in the development of the Medway area
  

The collections are displayed in our main museum galleries| and on board our historic warships|. Our reference collections (archives, printed books and photographs) are available to researchers through The Royal Dockyard Library|.
