We open for the 2010 visitor season on 13 February with lots of activities for all the family, including a brand new ‘film trail’ where many of the major films that have been shot at the dockyard can be identified through a series of clues and pictures. These include The Mummy, The Golden Compass and The World is Not Enough - to name but a few!

ZZ_1264776745_Children of Men.jpg Downloadable here|, or available to collect on arrival, the trail has been inspired by the recently released Sherlock Holmes film - some key scenes from which were filmed around the site - and will complement other activities you and your family can take part in during the school holidays including a Sherlock Holmes related ‘Word Search’.

Back by popular demand this year is “All at Sea with a Ship’s Cat” storytelling.  How did cats help the Royal Navy win its Second World War battles? Using puppets and lively storytelling, the role of the humble moggy will be brought to life for children of all ages You can ‘meet’ Jasper, the Ship’s Cat aboard HMS Cavalier; hear stories of cats like Annie who lived aboard HMS Anson and discover that she produced as many as 50 kittens during her long tour of duty! Eagle eyed youngsters can be on the lookout for the resident rat “Tricky Dicky” who pops his head up from time to time too.

A Family Fun Trail, downloadable here|, the Family Ropery Tour where you can make your own piece of rope and themed colouring are other activities which run during the holidays from 13 until 21 February.

Opportunities for the children to ‘let off steam’ are offered by the outdoor adventure play area.

Entrance to The Historic Dockyard galleries and attractions plus all the school holiday activities are included in the normal admission price, offering great value for money as all full price tickets are valid for one year from the date of first visit!
