Situated on the shores of the River Medway, The Historic Dockyard offers your pupils a fascinating mixture of ships, animatronic adventures, museum displays and historic buildings. Over 400 warships were constructed here during the working life of the Dockyard, including Nelson’s flagship Victory and the first iron warship ever built in a naval dockyard, the Achilles.
A trip to the Historic Dockyard teaches your pupils about far more than British history. We’ve developed a series of resource packs for use in the classroom which link to the National Curriculum in important areas such as history, numeracy, literacy, science and technology. A range of on-site worksheets also helps you identify and explain relevant educational points to your group whilst touring the site.
